Sintesi per formanti: insieme di filtri matematici governa direttamente i parametri acustici del segnale artificiale.

Sintesi concatenativa: sono frammenti acustici estratti da voce naturale che vengono archiviati in una base dati e poi selezionati e ricombinati per generare il suono corrispondente alle lettere scritte.
